HCM Eats: Out and About

Spotted balancing on a Ho Chi Minh street vendor's head. Not sure exactly what this is (and we didnt get to try it), but doesnt it look so yummy??

The vendor looked so cute too, carrying that whole tray piled with pastries on his head.

Around the corner from our hotel was a row of bars and little Vietnamese Pho eateries. Our first night in HCM, we were so hungry that as soon as we spotted a lit-up menu, we made a beeline for the bar.

Should have tried the Okra Bacon wrap. Doesnt it sound so good? Hmmmm.

Decided to get both the chicken kebab and the pork kebab. The one on the left looks yummier, and it was! Wish they served it with rice though..

Over the course of our stay, we noticed that Vietnamese restos would always serve the food with this salt (and pepper? not sure) mixture. It was a bit spicy, so we didnt really care too much for it.

The breakfast the hotel served was nothing special (or fancy). Just noodle soup with egg on top.
Notice the Red Ribbon cake box? Being the Pinoys that we are, our friend Kring brought a cake on the plane (from Manila to Saigon!) for us to eat if we got hungry. Haha.

Our holy grail find of the trip!! Yummy canned Wintermelon tea! Scooooooore!
Kulang nalang pearls and pudding hehehe

We were so obsessed with this, we raided the supermarkets and stuffed them in our malettas to bring home as pasalubong (and for personal consumption too hehe).
Bonus: They were really inexpensive! Even cheaper than canned coke in Manila!

Highlands Coffee break. Because we needed to rest our feet and we needed to wait for the rest of the group to come meet up with us. 14 people travelling together in a foreign country is no joke, believe me. Even just deciding what time to meet up and where is craaaaaazy.
Crazy but fun :)

Side note: We were in Vietnam for 3 days and didn't see a single Starbucks branch. There were Gloria Jeans branches though.

More HCM food entries to be posted soon! ;)
