Yes, this is another Bangkok entry.
..and probably the last (as I'm getting a bit tired of talking about BKK haha) :)
Being all tourist-y at The Grand Palace. See my (icky) brown sarong? Had to pay and rent that long skirt to cover my leggings. Didn't know about the strict dress code :|
At the elephant park. I LOVE ELEPHANTS! One elephant actually grabbed the banana I was holding, which explains the surprised expression on my face :D

BKK Eats
Really, the shopping wasn't the only thing that lured us back to Bangkok. The food definitely did too. Which is funny because Thailand is known for really spicy food and we stay away from anything spicy. We love Thai food, just hold the spice please. One of our favorite date places is Som's and we've been going there for years. Even back when it was small, and cramped, and you had no choice but to eat outside (but you could pay extra to sit in their little air-conditioned room). I still think their milk tea is one of the best, considering how simple it is. It just has that authentic taste that the commercial milk teas lack. And it tastes so much like the milk tea that's sold on the streets of Bangkok.
So this is how most of our days were spent: eating! On street corners, in hole-in-the-wall restos, in the mall food courts - we're definitely not picky eaters ;) (Okay maybe I am, sometimes.)
McDonalds Bangkok
Because ever since I was a kid, going to fast food places in different countries has always been a tradition of sorts. There are all these items on their menu that aren't available in Manila, which I think is cool. Take for example the Fanta and Coke Freeze Floats in Bangkok, yum yum yum.
Kuu
This Japanese restaurant in Central World (our favoritest BKK mall!!!) that gives off a date-y vibe. It sounds weird, eating Japanese food in Thailand, but oh well.
Khao San Road
Khao San Road at night is like one big street fair. There are stalls that sell clothes, accessories, even swimwear and then there are also stalls that sell street food. On the sides of the road are bars and little hotels (hostels? inns? motels?) which explains why this road is popularly known as the backpacker's district. We discovered this place on our August trip and it was fun because you get to eat so much yummy food for such a small price. And no, we didn't try the dried insects (EWW) that they were peddling. Had the best Sate ever here!
KFC
KFC in Thailand does not sell rice. THE HORROR. How one can eat KFC chicken with no rice is beyond me. They charge extra for gravy too. Hmmm. Its more fun in the Philippines in this case ;) Also, their original chicken tastes like our hot-and-spicy.
Chatuchak weekend market
Great finds AND great food! I love Chatuchak! Honestly, maybe even more than Platinum. Had lunch at this small carinderia-style eatery and tasted the best Phat thai (Googled this, always thought it was PAD Thai! Maybe Pad Thai's the English spelling?) ever!! And it was so cheap!
Black Canyon Coffee
Thailand's version of Starbucks. Their clean, high-end milk tea is so good! But milk tea anywhere in Bangkok is good, in my opinion. Even in the dirtiest street corners.
Shabushi
The whole eat-all-you-can sushi AND shabu-shabu concept is so cool, and there's just something so fun about picking food items off of a conveyor belt. I guess there's a thrill to grabbing plates before it rotates and someone else gets it.

BKK Shopping
2010 was our 'We Can't Get Enough Of Thailand' year. In January, we went with Cholo's high school barkada. We could've chosen to go elsewhere in August, but we chose to go back to Bangkok (this time with my sister and brother-in-law).
One major activity that lured us back? Shopping! Its crazy how cheap the clothes are in Bangkok, that is if youre a pro at haggling. Buying stuff there makes you feel like youre really getting value for your money - especially considering that most of the stuff you find here in Manila (Greenhills/online shops/stores like Preview and a certain swimwear line haha) come from there, and are double or triple the price.
